Crochet Adorable Teddy Bear Earflap Hat Free Pattern

Materials Needed

• Super bulky yarn in light brown, cream, and dark brown
• Crochet hook size L (8.0 mm)
• Tapestry needle
• Two black safety eyes
• Polyfill for nose (optional)

Abbreviations

• ch: chain
• sc: single crochet
• inc: increase (2 sc in same stitch)
• dec: decrease (sc 2 together)

Hat Body

Using light brown yarn:

1. Magic ring, 8 sc in ring. Join with a sl st to first sc. (8 sts)
2. Ch 1, 2 sc in each st around. Join. (16 sts)
3. Ch 1, *sc in next st, 2 sc in next st* repeat around. Join. (24 sts)
4. Ch 1, *sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st* repeat around. Join. (32 sts)
5. Continue increasing in this manner until you reach 64 sts.
6. Work sc in each st around until hat measures 6-7 inches from the top.

Earflaps

Using light brown yarn:

1. Join yarn at the side of the hat, ch 1, sc in next 12 sts. Turn.
2. Ch 1, sc2tog, sc across to last 2 sts, sc2tog. Turn. (10 sts)
3. Ch 1, sc across. Turn.
4. Repeat decreasing every row until you have 2 sts. Fasten off.
5. Repeat on opposite side of hat.

Edging

Using cream yarn:

1. Join yarn, ch 1, sc evenly around the entire hat and earflaps. Join.
2. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Bear Ears

Make 2:

1. Magic ring, 6 sc in ring. Join. (6 sts)
2. Ch 1, 2 sc in each st around. Join. (12 sts)
3. Ch 1, *sc in next st, 2 sc in next st* repeat around. Join. (18 sts)
4. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Sew onto hat.

Muzzle

Using cream yarn:

1. Magic ring, 6 sc in ring. Join. (6 sts)
2. Ch 1, 2 sc in each st around. Join. (12 sts)
3. Ch 1, *sc in next st, 2 sc in next st* repeat around. Join. (18 sts)
4. Change to dark brown yarn and sc around one more round. Fasten off.
5. Sew to the front of the hat and attach safety eyes above the muzzle.

Braid Ties

1. Cut six strands of yarn 24 inches long.
2. Fold strands in half and attach to the bottom of the earflaps using a hook.
3. Braid the strands and knot the end. Trim excess.

Finishing

1. Sew the nose with dark brown yarn onto the muzzle.
2. Weave in all ends securely.
