Cozy Crochet Beanie and Scarf Set
Materials
- Worsted weight yarn (about 200 grams of cream or ivory)
- 4.0 mm (G) crochet hook
- Scissors
- Yarn needle
- Stitch markers (optional)
Gauge
12 double crochets (DC) = 4 inches (10 cm) in DC stitch pattern.
Abbreviations
- ch - chain
- sl st - slip stitch
- sc - single crochet
- dc - double crochet
- st - stitch
Instructions
Beanie:
- Start with a magic ring.
- Round 1: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), 11 dc into the ring. Pull tight and join with a sl st to the top of the first dc (12 sts).
- Round 2: Ch 3, dc in the same st, 2 dc in each st around. Join (24 sts).
- Round 3: Ch 3, dc in the next st, *2 dc in the next st, 1 dc in the next st; repeat from * around. Join (36 sts).
- Round 4: Ch 3, dc in the next 2 sts, *2 dc in the next st, 1 dc in the next 2 sts; repeat from * around. Join (48 sts).
- Rounds 5-10: Ch 3, dc in each st around. Join.
- Round 11: Ch 1, sc in each st around. Join.
- Fasten off and weave in ends.
Scarf:
- Ch 20.
- Row 1: Sc in the 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across (19 sc).
- Row 2: Ch 3, dc in the first st, *sk 1 st, dc in the next st; repeat from * across. Turn.
- Row 3: Ch 1, sc in each dc across. Turn.
- Repeat Rows 2 and 3 until the scarf reaches your desired length (about 60 inches works well).
- Fasten off and weave in ends.
Finishing Touches
If desired, add fringes to the ends of your scarf by cutting strands of yarn about 6 inches long. Fold them in half and use a crochet hook to pull them through the last row of stitches, tying them in a knot.
