Colorful Granny Square Crochet Blanket

Materials
- Yarn: Worsted weight yarn in light blue, purple, red, and any other desired colors.
- Crochet Hook: Size G/6 (4.0 mm)
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
Gauge
Gauge is not critical for this project, but each completed granny square should measure approximately 4 inches across.
Abbreviations
- ch: chain
- sl st: slip stitch
- dc: double crochet
- tr: treble crochet
- sp: space
Instructions
Granny Square
- Start with the purple yarn. Make a slip knot and chain 4. Join with a sl st to form a ring.
- Round 1: Ch 4 (counts as 1 tr, ch 1), (3 tr in ring, ch 1) 3 times, 2 tr in ring, join with a sl st in the top of the beginning ch-4. (12 tr total)
- Fasten off the purple yarn and join the red yarn in any ch-1 sp.
- Round 2: Ch 4 (counts as 1 tr, ch 1), *3 tr in next ch-1 sp, ch 1, tr in next tr, ch 1,* repeat from * to * 3 more times, join with sl st. Fasten off and join the light blue yarn in any ch-1 sp.
- Round 3: Ch 3 (counts as dc), 2 dc in same sp, ch 1, *3 dc in next sp, ch 1,* around, join with sl st. Fasten off.
Assembly
- Create additional granny squares in the same pattern until you achieve the desired blanket size.
- Lay out squares in preferred arrangement.
- Using light blue yarn, whip stitch squares together, making sure rows are even.
Finishing
- Weave in all ends with the tapestry needle.
- Block the blanket if necessary to get the squares to lay flat.
