Colorful Granny Square Cover Crochet Pattern

Materials

• Worsted weight yarn in various colors (red, orange, blue, teal, yellow, gray, white, black, purple, etc.)
• Size H/8 (5.0 mm) crochet hook
• Yarn needle
• Scissors

• sl st – slip stitch
• sc – single crochet
• dc – double crochet

Instructions

Granny Square

Each square is made separately and then joined together.

1. Round 1: Using the first color, make a magic ring, ch 3 (counts as dc), 2 dc into ring, ch 2, *(3 dc into ring, ch 2)* repeat 3 times, join with sl st to top of ch-3. Fasten off. (12 dc)
2. Round 2: Join second color in any ch-2 corner space, ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in the same space, *(3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in next ch-2 space)* repeat 3 times, join with sl st to top of ch-3. Fasten off. (24 dc)
3. Round 3: Join third color in any ch-2 corner space, ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in the same space, *(3 dc in space between clusters from the previous round, 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in next ch-2 space)* repeat around, join with sl st to top of ch-3. Fasten off. (36 dc)
4. Repeat steps to create as many squares as needed for your cover, using different color combinations for each square.

Joining Squares

Arrange squares in the desired pattern. Join squares using a contrasting color for a striking effect.

• Place two squares with right sides together.
• Using a yarn needle and chosen yarn, whip stitch along the edges to join.
• Continue adding squares until all are connected.

Border

Once all squares are joined, add a border in the same contrasting color.

1. Round 1: Join yarn in any corner, ch 1, sc in each stitch around the entire perimeter, placing 3 sc in each corner. Join with sl st to first sc.

Finishing

• Weave in all loose ends using the yarn needle.
• Block the final piece lightly if desired for a neat finish.
